Hot Shoe of the Week

Cute but funky! Remember the song Short but Funky by Too Short? And I'm gonna stay short but funky... Yeah well that has nothing to do with this. I'm not sure what I would wear this with, but I think it would look very cute with the right dress. It's the Glint Danni T-strap sandal. Find it at Nordstrom for $89.95.

NightClub Cardio

Have you heard about the latest workout?! It's NightClub Cardio. I read about it in the Houston Chronicle a few weeks ago. Right now in Houston, they offer it once a week at a club called Pravada, which is on Shepherd near Westheimer. It is in the evening before the club opens and the workout consists of following the instructor's dance steps to music played by a DJ with the club strobe lighting and all. Sounds like fun! Check out their website.

My Newest Reality Obsession

NYC Prep! Have you seen this show? It is soooo bad but soooo good. It is a "reality" show about rich prep school kids living in New York City. These kids are 15 to 17 years old but think they are 30 and act like they are 12. Think The Hills on crack. Love it! So horrible and such a waste of time, but I can't look away! A dream Saturday night would be an NYC Prep marathon, a chocolate cake, and a bottle of wine. Sad, but true! Check it out on Bravo on Tuesday nights. They have reruns all the time too. You will find yourself thinking, why am I watching this, and you may lose a few IQ points, but it is SO worth it!

Boca Raton Resort

Last week we went on vacation to Boca Raton and stayed at the Boca Raton Resort. It is a great resort which I highly recommend. There are many different parts of the resort in which to stay. There is a main hotel with a high rise called the tower. That is where we stayed. You can also stay at the beach club which is right on the beach or in the bungalows. We stayed in the bungalows before and those are great if you have kids and need a kitchen, but they are a little isolated and away from the main hotel. The restaurants and shops are all in the main hotel. A shuttle takes you to the beach club whenever you want to go to the beach. It is quick and always available. Everyone is very helpful and nice at the resort. It is a great place if you like to hang out on the beach or at the pool and do not like to venture from the resort. It is also very family friendly. The pool area was never too crowded but there were plenty of children there. The only complaint I had was the food. We have stayed there in the past and the food was great. They did some major renovations on the beach club over the last few years and apparently changed their menus as well. The food was not very good and there were very few choices. Besides the great breakfast buffet, the food was very disappointing. So, if you ever plan to go to Boca Raton, I would suggest looking into staying at the Boca Raton Resort, just leave the resort for lunch and dinner!

Shrimp with Garlic and Vegetables

I haven't tried this recipe yet but I think it sounds yummy! I came across it recently and if you love shrimp as much as I do, you should give it a try.

Ingredients:
15 garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbsp crushed red chile flakes
1/2 cup olive oil
1 zucchini, sliced
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 tomatoes, sliced
1/2 cup white wine
1 cup fish stock
1 lb raw shrimp, peeled, tails removed
Juice of 2 limes
1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves, packed
2 tsp salt
French baguette

Directions:
Saute garlic and chile flakes in olive oil for 5 minutes over low heat. Add zucchini and bell pepper and saute another 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook 2 more minutes. Add wine and simmer for 5 minutes. Add stock and bring to a boil. Add shrimp and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. squeeze in lime juice, add cilantro and salt. Serve immediately with crusty French bread. Serves 6.

Product Recommendation: I Spy Bags

My daughter received a mini I Spy Bag for her birthday from my friend. An I Spy Bag is a little bag that cannot be opened and is full of tiny little items for your child to find through a window on the front. We are about to go on vacation and I think these will be great for the plane ride. If you are going on a long car ride or on a plane, you should get one for your child! You can find many of them on Etsy, but my favorite I Spy Bags are created by The Crafting Corner. They have a standard size, a mini size, and even a party favor size. Visit their shop to see all of their I Spy Bags.
