This is one cute cake! OK, I made it so am a little biased, but I love it so I had to show it off. This was my daughter's cake for her second birthday. We had pink and green cupcakes from Sam's for the guests. The theme, of course, was pink and green camo with a little Wow Wow Wubbzy thrown in. I requested a custom Wow Wow Wubbzy cake topper from SpiritMama on Etsy, which turned out perfect, and I did the rest. If you live in Houston, I can make a similar cake for your little one! Restaurant Recommendation: Mark's American Cuisine

If you are looking for a great restaurant in Houston for that special occasion, you should try Mark's American Cuisine. It has been around a while now. I ate there years ago but didn't remember much about the food. Last Friday our friend proposed to his girlfriend there and had a small dinner party. The food was excellent and the staff was very courteous. They have private rooms for different sized functions. We were seated on the loft, which was a separate area upstairs that overlooked the restaurant. It sat about 25 people. They had a special menu for us where we could choose between two items for each course. The crab cake was wonderful as was the corn chowder, salad, shrimp and dessert, of course, which was warm chocolate cake and creme brulee. If you haven't been to Mark's, it really is a great restaurant, especially for that important date or party.

Yummy Hummus

We went to my friend's daughter's 1st birthday party a few weeks ago and they had really good hummus as a dip for their veggie platter. My husband loved it so he asked for the recipe. He thinks he cooked because he stuck it all the food processor and pressed the button. Here's the recipe...

Mix all ingredients in the food processor.

Ingredients:

1 16 oz can garbanzo beans
1/4 cup of liquid from the can of beans
3 to 5 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
2 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
dash of cayenne pepper

Etsy Feature: Wild Art Designs

I really like the big flower rings everyone is wearing right now but I'm not ready for something too big and flashy, so I looked around on Etsy for something cute yet affordable, and I found the perfect ring. I thought it looked great in the picture and when it arrived it was even better in person. The Etsy shop is called Wild Art Designs and Vicki makes the most wonderful pieces. Not only is the jewelry beautiful, the customer service is excellent. The package arrived quickly and the ring was wrapped like a little present. I was so happy with my purchase that I just placed a second order for one in white and one for my mom. Vicki was so nice and helpful. Hot (but practical) Shoe of the Week

The hot shoe of the week is usually a more dressy and trendy shoe. This week I thought I'd feature a more practical shoe. I wish I could have a closet full of the shoes I have featured, but in reality I go very few places to wear such shoes since having my daughter. This week's shoe is the Caribe Espadrille by J. Crew. It is a great everyday shoe for summer. I do actually own this shoe in black. It looks great with shorts if you want to dress them up a little and leave the usual flip flops at home. It also looks great with summer dresses, capris and even jeans. It is such a versatile shoe and also very comfortable. You can find it on the J. Crew website for $88. The metallic version is $98.
