Snuggie

OK please don't judge me, but I caved in and bought one. Oh yes I did. A Snuggie. I thought that this was one of the dumbest things I had ever seen when it first came out. I actually kind of still do. A blanket with arms, oh ok. I thought, I will never buy one of those! Well, lately while laying on the couch and using my laptop at night, I keep thinking, my arms sure are cold. I take a blanket and try to wrap it up around my arms so I can still use the laptop but be warm at the same time. I started thinking about the Snuggie. I had seen them at Target recently, so when I was there the other day, I bought one! It was $15. It isn't the highest quality of fabric. The person who invented it is a genius though and most likely a millionare now. They probably cost $1 to make. I am so ashamed. I don't care though! I have become one with my Snuggie and I am addicted. Make fun if you want, but my arms are warm and toast as I type this.

Free Cake!

The phrase makes my heart skip a beat. Have you ever heard anything more wonderful?! One of my favorite places is The Dessert Gallery and one of my favorite desserts is their Jennifer's Birthday Cake. Today I get a free piece because my name is Jennifer! I know, right?! Try to calm down. The person the cake is named after turns 20 today so they sent out an email coupon to everyone on their mailing list who is named Jennifer. If you have never been to The Dessert Gallery in Houston, you really must go! They have yummy cakes, amazing brownies, and much more. They are also open late so you can stop in after dinner. Yum!

J. Crew

I haven't done much shopping since my daughter was born, 2 years ago!!! I recently cleaned out my closet so I went shopping to start restocking. I went to J. Crew and they have some really great things right now. I found a lot of good basic items. Check out their website.

Right Start is Back

If you haven't heard, Right Start reopened! If you hadn't heard, they had closed down a few months ago. I think maybe they filed bankruptcy. If you have more details, feel free to leave a comment on this post. All I know is that the one here in Houston, in The Village, is open again. It's great place for hard to find items or specialty baby items, especially for feeding and traveling. You can also visit the Right Start website.

CARES

We will be going on a trip soon and were looking for an alternative to taking the carseat on the plane now that our daughter is older. It is such a hassle deciding whether to check the stroller as luggage or gate check it, then you have to deal with the bulky carseat. do you carry it, roll it, strap it to your back? This time we won't need the carseat when we get to our destination. When she was young, we would take her a seat on the plane and put her in her in it in her own seat. We would usually check the stroller as luggage in a stroller bag. Last time we went, she was in her larger Britax carseat which is so big and difficult to maneauver around the airport, security, and on the plane, but we wanted her to be safe. It also gave her the ability to reach the seat in front of her and kick it the entire flight! I recently found CARES. It is a harness type child aviation safety restraint. It attaches to the actual seat then has a harness for your child, it is approved by the FAA and is considered as safe as a carseat on a plane. We bought one and will be trying it on our flight in October. It sounds and looks like a good alternative, so we will see. It is for kids at least 1 year old weighing 22-44 lb. Random Recipe - Eggplant Yogurt Dip

Ingredients:

5 cloves garlic
3 pounds eggplant (2-3 medium)
1/2 cup plain lowfat yogurt
3/4 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
Dash ground pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450 F. Bake garlic and eggplant until soft, about 45 minutes. Remove garlic. Increase heat and broil eggplant until skins are charred, about 3 minutes. Remove and let cool. Whisk together yogurt and lemon juice in large bowl. Squeeze roasted garlic pulp into yogurt mixture and stir well. Cut each eggplant in half. Scrape flesh into a large fine sieve set over a large bowl. Let drain 15 minutes. Discard liquid. Stir eggplant and salt into yogurt mixture. Season with pepper.
