Etsy Feature: Gifts & Talents

I discovered this great shop called Gifts & Talents while looking for a recipe box for a gift. I love this shoe! I really want to get a pair. It's a little bit casual and a little bit dressy. I saw it while walking through Nordstrom the other day. It's already sandal weather here in Houston. It is the Muffin sandal by Enzo Angiolini and you can find it at Nordstrom for $99.95.

We have relatives visiting from Israel, so I made these iron on appliques for their granddaughters! Each one is the Hebrew letter that their first name starts with. Oh (Birthday) Boy!

Yesterday we featured a birthday girl. Today we have a birthday boy sporting one of our hats. He sure is handsome! We are so glad his mom sent us this photo. We sell an equal number of boy hats and girl hats, but we don't get many boy photos sent in. This little guy is representing for the boys, and he's doing it very well!

Zac Brown Band

I just found out one of my favorite bands will be coming to Houston soon. A lot of people have not heard of them so I thought I'd write about them. I first saw the Zac Brown Band here in Houston at The Mucky Duck. They are from Georgia and are really great. They have a country rock kind of sound and they put on great shows full of personality and fun. Recently they have become more and more poular and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel last month. Their curent single being played on the radio is called Chicken Fried. If you live in Houston, check them out on April 21st at The House of Blues. You can visit their website to read more about them, find other tour dates and listen to their music.

What? A 1/2 Birthday?

Have you heard of a ½ birthday!? Neither had I, until my daughter was almost 6 months old. I read on a mom’s forum that a lot of them were having a little celebration for their child’s 6 month “birthday.” I thought it was kind of silly at first, but then I thought, what a cute photo op! We just bought a little cake at the grocery store and had them write happy birthday on one side and then cut the cake in half. We didn’t have people over or have a party. We just let her pose with the cake and sang happy ½ birthday. It was mostly for some cute photos to send out to mark the milestone.

So, that’s what this hat is for, so you can celebrate your baby’s 6 month “birthday!” It is the newest addition to our shop. It is so cute for photos. It is a smaller version of our regular birthday hat. Height is approximately 7 inches. We can make it to match any color or theme you would like.

It is the Double Dare Pump by Naughty Monkey.While I was looking to see the places you can buy it, I found out that it is the shoe Sarah Palin wore when John McCain announced her as his running mate, so it has become quite popular. Trend Watch: Acid Wash Jeans

Nooooo! Say it isn't so! I read this in Lucky Magazine this month. They say that these 80s jeans are back. Very scary! I wore them in middle school. I have not been able to find them in many popular well known brands. The article said they are available at Macy's, but I didn't see them. They are also calling them mineral wash these days, maybe so as not to scare people! Here are a few and you can see more here. They seem to only come in the skinny jean. Would you dare?
