A Man Cave? Whatever!
On Nightline the other night they did a piece about man caves. Apparently there is this show on one of those home channels where they go around and give men their own room, a man cave. They get a basement, garage or other room all to themselves often outfitted in sports paraphernalia and usually with a bar. They have big recliners, TVs, maybe a pool table or whatever else they may be into. Celebrities especially have very elaborate ones. They featured Snoop Dog's man cave and a few others. Anyway! Why in the heck does a man need a man cave!? I need a cave! If anyone needs to get away, it's a woman, especially a mother! I'm sure men will argue that the whole house is the woman's, probably because she decorated it, blah blah blah. Nope! I don't want any part of the house. I surely don't want the kitchen. Don't want the bedroom. And really, the rest of the house seems to belong to my daughter because it's her stuff strewn about the entire place. I want a woman cave! Here's what mine would look like... First, it would have a door with padlocks. Wait, forget that. I want one of those panic room doors that's made of steel, slides shut and is sound proof so I can't hear my child's little fists banging on it, or my husband's head. There would be three drinks on tap, red wine, white wine, and coke. The fridge would be stocked with cupcakes. Yes, just cupcakes. I would have one of those great pedicure chairs that feels like an actual person is inside massaging your back. There would be a huge TV that plays only reality shows, those 48 hour mystery shows, the E! channel, MTV, VH1, and TLC. A bookshelf would hold all the latest gossip magazines, such as US, OK, and People. There would be a phone that only makes outgoing calls. In case of emergency there will be a little red strobe light in the corner of the room that can be activated from the main part of the house. That light better not go on unless someone is gravely injured or we won the lottery. I would have a giant bed, the fluffy kind with all white bedding that you get in hotels. There would be no cat hair or kid vomit on it. The sheets and comforter would be perfectly in place and not scrunched down at the foot of the bed because the other person who sleeps in it doesn't know how to use a bed. The room would be wallpapered with shirtless photos of David Beckham. No mirrors allowed in the room. The faint smell of vanilla frosting would be pumped in through the vents. This is my cave, my oasis. No men or kids allowed!

Llamas are Cool...
And they help some families survive. Have you heard of www.heifer.org? It has been around for a while but I just recently came across it again. It is an organization that strives to end world hunger and poverty by helping build sustainable communities. It does this by offering different animals for sale. For example, you can buy a family in another country a sheep in the name of your mother or your best friend. Many communities depend on sheep for their wool. What about a buying a flock of geese for a family in need of eggs? There are several animals and price ranges from which to choose. You can make these donations in someone's name and get a card that explains the gift. What a great gift for someone who has everything! I think this is a really great idea. Sometimes, you just don't need anymore stuff, so instead you can help someone who really needs it.

WTH?!
So while looking around for the hot shoe of the week, I came across this shoe...I mean boot...I mean sandal! Eeeeeeee! This is the Juicy Couture 'Lavish' Gladiator Sandal. I just had to share because I found it so strange. It's $295 at Nordstrom if you are interested, and if you are you must be way cooler than me, or you are Rihanna or someone like her who can pull it off. I couldn't pull it off, nor would I want too! Pull it off and throw it out the window maybe! I think it's an example of the gladiator trend gone terribly wrong, but someone will like it. Do you?

Trend Watch: The Boyfriend Blazer
One of the trends for spring is the boyfriend blazer. I'm not a fan yet. It reminds me of the 80s. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of 80s music and pop culture, but not of giant shoulder pad filled blazers. I know that's not really what these are, but that's what they remind me of for some reason. The second and third outfit are really cute though!

Skinny Bitch!
If someone called me that, I would totally take it as a compliment! However, I am talking about the drink. I vaguely remember hearing about this drink quite some time ago. If you are trying to stay on your diet but still would like a cocktail, try the skinny bitch. I think I didn't pay attention because it had diet coke in it and I can't stand the taste of diet coke, but I recently read about a version made with water. Next time you want a drink minus the high calories, order a skinny bitch!
The Original Version: Diet Coke, vodka and a lime (56 calories!)
The New Version: Water, vodka and a lime (or lemon)
Either way, you'll be one skinny bitch!

Hey Moms...Read This Book!
If you are a stay at home mom, work at home mom, work away from home mom, or any kind of mom, you should read The Stay-at-Home Martyr: A Survival Guide for Having a Life Outside Your Kids by Joanne Kimes and Jennifer Worley. It is a great book, funny at times, but so true. You will find yourself saying, "That's what I said" and "I know!!" throughout the book. I have not finished reading it yet but so far I really like it and recommend it to all my friends who are moms, especially first time moms. If nothing else, it will make you feel like you are not crazy and alone, and make you laugh. You can read more about it on Amazon.

Bye Bye Right Start?? Hello Sale!
I have been hearing and reading that Right Start is closing. I'm not sure if it is true but they did file for bankruptcy. Please leave a comment if you have more information. Right Start is a great store. I don't go there a lot because it is pricey, but when there is a special or hard to find baby item I need, I can always find it there. The point here is, they are having a huge sale! I haven't been to the store but I have talked to people who have, and they said there are some great prices. Everything on their website is on sale too!

Etsy Feature: gotmojo?
I happened upon an Etsy store recently with the funniest little signs. I saw two that were just perfect for my friends and I had to by them. Paula at gotmojo? creates these signs and magnets. Her silly signs will definitely make you smile, and they make perfect gifts. You can hang them in a cubicle or on the refrigerator. So cute! She also creates signs for businesses and other signs for the home. When I placed my order, the customer service was excellent. I received my signs quickly and they were beautifully packaged. You must check out gotmojo?!!
