Remember the TV show Mel’s Diner? Or was it Alice? I know Alice was on the show and she worked at Mel’s Diner and so did Flo. Flo would always say, “Kiss my grits!” Anyway, my daughter received this cute knit hat in the mail over the weekend from her great great Aunt Flo. I didn't even know she knitted. I’m thinking maybe Aunt Flo should set up shop on Etsy!

Etsy Feature: Spirit of Silver
Like I said a few days ago, I received my Little Black Box and it was full of wonderful samples, coupons and promotional products. One of my favorites was a cute pair of hematite earrings from Spirit of Silver. Amelia is a mother of two who started designing and making jewelry 7 years ago. She considers her style to be funky, chic, and unique. She has been selling her jewelry for a while now, but is new to Etsy. Her shop is full of beautiful bracelets, necklaces, earrings and anklets. Here is one of my favorites, Elegant Arpeggio Circles. Beautiful! Take a look at her shop, Spirit of Silver.

The newest addition...
This is our newest diaper clutch, for the fashionable mom on the go. So cute it could even be an everyday clutch, and so chic it could be an evening bag! We will be featuring a clutch just like this one in an upcoming giveaway! For more pics of this clutch and others, go to Sweet ' n Sassy Baby.
Sign 'o the Times Baby!
Today was our last Baby Signs class at Gymboree. My daughter and I have been going for 9 weeks. I highly recommend it! She had so much fun and she knows at least 15 signs. Many people who do not agree with it say that it delays speech. We have not found this to be the case as she says several words as well. If she sees something and doesn't know how to say the word, then she does the sign and I know she knows what it is. It helps me to know how much she understands and identifies and it also helps us communicate, as she can tell me when she wants a drink, is hungry, or wants her blanket. Check out the Gymboree website for more information.

Treat in a Box
My Little Black Box arrived the other day. It's the first time I have ordered one and it was a very fun experience. It contained all kinds of coupons, promotional items and cute samples. My favorite was a very cute pair of earrings. If you do not know about the Little Black Box, you should look at their website. Once a month you can order one and it is filled with promotional items, offers and samples from various online retailers, many of which have Etsy stores. It is great publicity for the companies and fun for you. It's like getting a bunch of tiny presents!

Summer's End...A Big Ole End
So as summer comes to an end, it's time to reminisce. Not that summer will end in Houston for 2 more months. It will probably be 100 degrees until Halloween. But anyway, I made it through and I put on a bathing suit and took my daughter to swimming lessons, so I thought I'd repost this poem (if you can call it that) which I wrote at the beginning of the summer at the thought of putting on that bathing suit. I posted it on my personal blog, but that blog only had 4 posts! I have now combined my business and personal blogs into one. Oh right, my wonderful poem, here it is...
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, It's that time of year.
The first time since the baby's been here.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, You make me so sad.
How can such a small piece of fabric make my butt look so bad?
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit. You fill me with fear.
The whispers and laughs I can already hear.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, You are tiny and tight.
I just want cry at the blubbery sight.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, You're not my friend.
I try and I push and I squeeze it all in.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, Why can't you have sleeves?
Maybe if I suck in and try not to breathe.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, You're tinier than I remember.
Oh how I wish it was the month of December.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, I'm going to be brave.
Oh crap, look at that, now I have to shave.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, You used to look so good on me.
But that was long ago before I had a baby.
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, You will not win.
I must put you on, my baby wants to swim!
Oh bathing suit, Oh bathing suit, I know you're laughing at me.
But screw you bathing suit! Cellulite be free!

I do...Shoe.
I'd like to share my latest love with you, this very cute shoe! I love them! Aren't they wonderful? As Carrie of Sex and the City would say, Hello Lovah! My husband thought I was weird when I told him we might have to get a divorce so I could marry this shoe. They are from Nine West and I can't remember how much they cost, $80 - $100, and worth every penny. They may not be Jimmy Choos or Manolo Blahniks but I love them just the same. Now I don't really have anywhere to wear them yet. I spend most of my days in a t-shirt and shorts with a one-year old. I think the other mothers at Gymboree might look at me weird if I wore these there, especially since you have to leave your shoes at the front and I'd refuse to take these off. I'm not leaving these babies in a cubbyhole in between some neon pink crocs and a pair of slip on tennis shoes! Anyway, I'll eventually have somewhere to wear them, and when I do, watch out! I'll be the hottest girl in the place...from the ankles down anyway!

Plug This!
If you don't know what plugboards are and you have an etsy store, you should look into them. There are many posts about it on the forums on etsy. I just learned about it and can't say I know that much or totally understand it. I just know I made this cute and very small animated banner called a plug and I can then upload it to plugboards on other people's blogs, a tiny free ad! I hope to add a plugboard here soon!
What I made today...
These are very cute iron on appliques. They can be easily applied to a shirt or the back side of shorts or pants. Just place on garment and iron on! Takes less than a minute!
See them in our store...
